National Anti-Bullying Week (Friendship Week)
This event will take place between 8:50am and 3:20pm on 13/11/2017 until 17/11/2017
RE: FRIENDSHIP WEEK 2017
In keeping with National Anti-Bullying Week 2017 we will be holding our Friendship Week at Woodlands Park Primary during the week of 13-17 November.
This year’s focus is ‘All different. All equal.’ Throughout the week the children will be taking part in activities to celebrate individuality and respect which will further develop the work we have been doing in school on the British Values.
We would like the children to wear blue on Monday 13 November to represent the anti-bullying colour to launch the week. The children will not require mufti money on this day. In addition to it being Children in Need day, on Friday 17 November we would like to celebrate the cohesion and sense of belonging in school. The children will be mixing with partner classes to share their learning and build mentoring relationships across the age range. This has always been a very successful and valuable session.
The activities completed throughout the week are, as ever, supported by age-appropriate resources from recommended websites such as www.kidscape.org.uk, www.anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk, www.bullying.co.uk and www.beyondbullying.com. Many of these websites have important information for parents. Please use your discretion when looking at these websites with your child as some areas of the websites are not appropriate for primary aged children. Look at www.thinkuknow.co.uk for very good information about cyber bullying and internet safety too.
We would like to invite you into school for the launch of Friendship week on Monday 13 November where we will share information about our school’s daily approach to these aspects, followed by the opportunity to work alongside your child in class on a PSHE activity. We will begin in the school hall at 9.00 am (tea, coffee and biscuits available from 8.45 am) with a presentation by Miss Williams. You can then join your child(ren) in their classroom until 10.00 am. If you have more than one child you can either divide your time between the classes or work with both of your children in a shared area. Because of limited available space we must limit the morning invitation to one adult per child.
