EYFS

We are really looking forward to welcoming you to Woodlands in September! There's still one member of the team you're yet to meet... Fred!

Take a look at some of the videos over the summer so you know who Fred is and what he's all about. If you can talk to Fred using your Fred Talk - even better!

In September, we will begin to teach your child to read. Take a look at the Read Write Inc videos to find out more about how we teach phonics at Woodlands.

To help your child get ready for their reading journey next year, it would be really useful to practice identifying and naming the pictures we use to introduce sounds. Please don't try to teach the sounds to your child, but do help them to name the images (e.g. mountain, apple, snake, tower).

Over the summer, spend time reading to your child to get them excited and intrigued about books!
