Over the last weeks, school has felt slightly more normal as we welcomed back children in Year 1 and Year 6. The children have been amazing, both in terms of their attitude to learning and how they have adapted to the changes of routine in school. The children have been taught in their class bubble of up to 15 children for the day; they learn and play with this group. I would like to thank my team for providing the safest and calmest environment for your children and the support from our governing body.
After further government guidance updates and subsequent meetings with the trust, governors and school leaders, I am delighted to be in the position to extend our partial opening to all year groups. From Monday 29 June, we will continue to provide education for 2 days for children in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 6. In addition, we will offer 1 day a week to children in Year 2, 3, 4 and 5.
As a school, we feel it is so important for as many children as possible to attend school before the end of the academic year. This will give us the opportunity to support your children’s emotional development, teach a few maths and literacy objectives and give the children chance to socialise in their class bubble of up to 15. Most importantly however, we would like the opportunity for the children and staff to feel some kind of closure on an exceptionally challenging period.
Please read the parent guide for partial reopening. I look forward to seeing your children in school later in the term.
Stay safe, Steve Bone Headteacher
