Run, Woodlands, Run!
Cross Country Finalists
What a day Woodlands Park had at the Schools Winter Games at Paignton with their cross country teams! There were 2 teams entered into the Finals and 2 in the Festival. All 24 runners who had been training hard all term, both in and out of school saw their effort, determination and drive pay off when they achieved some fantastic results. Year 5/6 Girls who ran 1.3 miles, came first in their final with finishing positions of 2nd, 13th, 15th and 31st out of 93 runners. Maddy ran the course in an impressive 8.03 mins. Year 3/4 boys who were also in the Final with a distance of 1 mile, really dug deep and came 4th overall out of 17 schools with 3 runners finishing in the top 25 out of 90 runners. Reuben came 5th with a very speedy 6 minute mile!
In the afternoon 2 teams were entered in the Festival, Year 3/4 girls and Year 5/6 boys. A smaller competition but no less competitive amongst the runners and again saw some amazing results. Both teams came first in their age group with Kian running the Year 5/6 course in 7.59 mins. The Year 3/4 girls finished with all 4 qualifying times in the top 20 – 1st, 6th, 7th & 17th.
A special thanks to Mrs Perry for all her training and constant encouragement, reassurance and advice to the runners in helping them achieve such great results.
