Rebecca Smith MP Visit
Today, we were delighted to welcome our local MP, Rebecca Smith, to Woodlands Park. During the visit, Rebecca toured the school, met with our newly elected Pupil Parliament and took part in a Question Time session with our Year 5 and 6 pupils.
Our pupils gained a valuable insight into the role of a Member of Parliament and the importance of representing and listening to the views of others. Rebecca offered particular encouragement to our new Pupil Parliament team as they begin their roles. Rebecca also had an important message for those pupils who were not successful in this round of elections, sharing experiences of elections where Rebecca had not been successful and encouraging them not to give up, but to keep putting themselves forward for opportunities in the future.
Rebecca also spent time with members of our leadership team and the WeST Director of Eductaion, listening to both the successes we are proud of and the challenges facing education in the South West.
As always, I felt incredibly proud of our school. Our pupils spoke with confidence, thoughtfulness and maturity, asked insightful questions and demonstrated the values that make Woodlands Park such a special place.
