Age of Enlightenment Orchestra - May 2015
Woodlands Park Primary School were luckily enough to be involved in an exciting project, working with one of the world’s leading orchestras – The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Over several weeks the children from years 3 and 4 worked with members of the orchestra on several songs, all based on the theme of ‘Water’. This work culminated in a concert at the Devonport Guildhall where the children sang their songs and listened to pieces played by the orchestra. They were also involved in a specially commissioned piece called “a Concerto for Plymouth”. As part of the project, the children brought an empty water bottle with loose change along to the concert to use as a percussion instrument. The bottles were then collected and the money donated to Water Aid.
