'A Christmas Carol', Years 5 and 6 - December 2015

Christmas spirit came early to Woodlands Park Primary School this week when Years 5 and 6 gave a heart-warming performance of Dickens’ classic tale, ‘A Christmas Carol’. The three classes divided Dickens’ story between them, ensuring that all ninety children would have a chance to shine – and shine they did! Having been well-prepared for their parts through this term’s study of ‘Victorians and Villains’, which included a step back in time to the historical site of Morwellham Quay, the children managed to bring Dickensian England to life on the stage. Their polished performance might also owe some debt to the Young Shakespeare Company’s extremely emotional adaptation of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ which they watched shortly before their own rehearsals began. Thanks to their joyous show, there will be no ‘Bah Humbugs’ at Woodlands Park this year.
